EIMA Show, First Impressions

The EIMA International show for agricultural machinery opened its doors today in Bologna, Italy.

Interesting to note that one new product DPi recently reported about, won one of the EIMA Technical Innovations prizes: the SXP directional valve by Walvoil. You can read more about it in our October issue.

Among component manufacturers, Ognibene earned a prize too with its digital power steering (DPS). There are good chances you will read about that too in one of our next issues.

Engine manufacturers by now have revealed their Stage 5 strategies. Now much relies on being capable to deliver the engines the market is requiring.

And, as it so often happens lately, there is room for news on electrification. Kohler presented K-HEM (Kohler Hybrid Energy Module), a power generation unit based on a mechanical KDW 1003 diesel engine (Stage 5 compliant without DPF as it delivers 18 kW) and a 48-V electric machine with 15 kW peak power.

Volvo Penta exhibited an electric drivetrain derived from bus applications: transmission plus electric motor. According to the company, the intention is to offer a fully industrialized electric solution to the market by 2021.
