Caterpillar saw a 23% increase in engine sales for the quarter ending in August over the same period last year, the Peoria, Ill., company reported. By market segment, the company said that sales climbed 40% in power generation, 27% in marine, 18% for trucks and buses, and 16% in petroleum.
On the machinery side, Cat said worldwide dealer retail sales rose 19%, with North America machine sales up 15% compared with the same period in 2004. Machine sales increased 47%, 11% and 46% for the Asia-Pacific; Europe, Africa and Middle East; and Latin America regions, respectively, Cat said.
