The U.S. Army has awarded Navistar Defense, LLC a foreign military sales contract valued at $18.8 million to provide 115 International 7000-MV medium tactical vehicles (MTV) to Iraq.
The majority of the work will take place at the company’s West Point, Miss. assembly plant. Delivery is planned to be completed by January 2018.
This equipment is being used by Iraqi security forces in the Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Defense. Navistar Defense’s dealer in Iraq, Hama, provides parts and service support to Navistar vehicles in Iraq and the region.
Navistar Defense MTVs are based on the International WorkStar severe-duty platform designed for both off and on-road operation, and is the backbone for the company’s MaxxPro Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle.
The 7000-MV has a variety of mission configuration models; troop transport, tanker, mine resistant/ambush protected, mine and counter-mine engineering operation, recovery and protected route clearance. The trucks are also used as septic waste haulers, as a refrigerated vehicle, cargo, dump truck, mine roller, hazmat and load handling configurations.
The vehicles are available in 4×4, 6×4 or 6×6 chassis giving the series a GVW range from 26,000 to 65,000 lbs. Power is from a Navistar N9, N10 or N13 diesel with outputs from 275 hp to 500 hp. Available transmissions are manual six-speed, 10-speed, 18-speed models or a five-speed automatic.
